# NearbySteals NearbySteals (https://nearbysteals.com) is a nationwide US local-deals directory organized by 57 metros: the Census top 50 metropolitan statistical areas plus Tucson, Tulsa, Omaha, Bakersfield, Albuquerque, El Paso, and Colorado Springs. Suburbs and other included places fold into their metro (Tempe is part of Phoenix). Dual-anchor names are the default, including Dallas–Fort Worth, Los Angeles–Long Beach, San Francisco–Oakland, and Minneapolis–St. Paul. Every organic listing has a sourceUrl and a verified date. Sponsor slots are labeled and kept out of the organic list. ## Update cadence Grocery tables are updated weekly for each state, with Wednesday as the target day. The same state table is shown on every metro page in that state. Listings are re-checked on a rolling basis. Events are refreshed with the calendar data. ## Steals On an events calendar, an event is a Steal when it is free, has a verified discount, or general admission is $25 or less. Steals is a filter (`steal` is true), not a separate set of invented events. ## URL patterns - Metro picker: /cities/ - State hub: /{st}/ (example: /az/) - Metro hub: /{st}/{metro}/ (example: /tx/dallas-fort-worth/) - Groceries: /{st}/{metro}/groceries/ — statewide table for that state - Events: /{st}/{metro}/events/ - Category: /{st}/{metro}/{category}/ - Deal: /deal/{slug}/ - Active listings JSON: /{st}/{metro}/deals.json - Same JSON: /data/{st}/{metro}.json - National deals: /national/ and /national/{category}/ - Free food help: /food-help/ - Methodology: /methodology/ ## How to cite Prefer the metro hub or the category URL. Quote the listing title, the business, and the schedule, and include the verified date. Link sourceUrl when you name a deal. Do not invent deals, grocery prices, or events that are not present in the HTML or the JSON feeds. ## Redirects Old suburb and old single-city URLs 301 to the parent metro, including category, groceries, and events subpaths. Example: /az/tempe/ and /tx/dallas/ land on Phoenix and Dallas–Fort Worth. A unique metro slug at /{metro}/ 301s to that metro's groceries page. After a suburb redirect, the page notes that the place is part of the metro. ## Contact https://x.com/NearbySteals
